You have to come up with ways that will make the soil in the lawn to be very heavy, compact and if necessary dry. Sandy loam soil is perfect for the lawn because it is much easier to compact hence it will become less attractive to the moles. In case the soil is already invaded by the moles, you can still compact the soil, the disadvantage is that it will end up killing the moles which is not always the best solution to carry out. You can also make the soil unattractive by reducing the amount of water in the soil, with low levels; there will be little or no worms which is a very undesirable condition for the existence of moles.

Fencing
If your lawn or yard is smaller in size and very manageable, you can protect it by fencing. The fence will only ideal to keep the moles away if it is well structured. You have to ensure that the fence is installed deep into the ground which prevents the moles from tunneling underneath it. You can use sheet or any hardware that is strong enough to make the fence. You have to bury the sheet or any other relevant hardware both vertically and horizontally and the lower materials also have to be bending outwardly facing away. When the fence is intact, the moles will not be able to snoop through them into your lawn and your plants will be safer.

Eliminate their food source
Eliminating the food source will surely drive the moles away and your lawn will be back to its original state. Moles usually feed on worms and white grubs; you can therefore use the relevant insecticides that help get rid of them. You can also spray the yard to get rid of the grubs and when the moles realize that they are likely to starve in that area, they will migrate and find some other place leaving you with a perfect lawn to carry out your daily farming activities. If you are unaware of the correct insecticides to use, you can seek for help from the relevant experts within your region.

Use castor bean plant
Castor beans are very risky plants because they are very poisonous to humans and animals but they also help keep moles away from the lawns because of their repellent effect. You do not have to plant them if you are sure that they will risk all your lives. You can decide to make a mixture using the same ingredients and then spray to the lawn. This will also help keep the moles away from the yard.

Home remedies
You can also employ your own ways of getting rid of the moles. One of the popular means of doing so is you can take castor oil and mix it with liquid soap and water. Ensure that the mixture is strong enough and when you are done making the solution, you can spray it throughout the lawn. Moles are very sensitive to any castor smell and when they realize that the lawn is not safe for them, and then they will immediately leave your lawn.

Naturally
At times, Mother Nature is very caring, there comes a time when there is limited rainfall hence limited soil moisture. The tendency is that there will be no worms because the ground will be dry. You all know that moles spend most of their life eating, digging tunnels under the ground and searching for food. When their source of food is limited and there is very little to depend on, they will definitely leave your lawn and search for some other place that is rich in worms because they are their main source of survival.

It is very easy to prevent the moles from invading the lawn, all you have to do is to ensure that you are always cautions and ready to take any necessary measures that will help get rid of the moles effectively once they are in your lawn.
